Analysis of the dust evolution in the circumstellar disks of T Tauri stars

چکیده
We present a compositional analysis of 8 − 13 μm spectra of 32 young stellar objects (YSOs). Our sample consists of 5 intermediate-mass stars and 27 low-mass stars. While the spectra and first scientific results have already been published by Przygodda et al. (2003) and Kessler-Silacci et al. (2004) we perform a more detailed analysis of the ∼ 10 μm silicate feature. In our analysis we assume that this emission feature can be represented by a linear superposition of the wavelengthdependent opacity κabs(λ) describing the optical properties of silicate grains with different chemical composition, structure, and grain size. The determination of an adequate fitting equation is another goal of this study. Using a restricted number of fitting parameters we investigate which silicate species are necessary for the compositional fitting. Particles with radii of 0.1 μmand 1.5μm consisting of amorphous olivine and pyroxene, forsterite, enstatite, and quartz have been considered. Only compact, homogeneous dust grains have been used in the presented fitting procedures. In this context we show that acceptable fitting results can also be achieved if emission properties of porous silicate grains are considered instead. Although some previous studies give reasons for the similarity between the dust in circumstellar disks of T Tauri stars and Herbig Ae/Be stars, a quantitative comparison has been missing, so far. Therefore, we conclude with a discussion of the results of a 10 μm spectroscopic survey of van Boekel et al. (2005) who focus on Herbig Ae/Be stars, the higher mass counterparts of T Tauri stars and draw comparisons to this and other studies. We find that the results of our study of T Tauri systems partly agree with previous studies of Herbig Ae/Be stars.

A Survey and Analysis of Spitzer Infrared Spectrograph Spectra of T Tauri Stars in Taurus
We present mid-infrared spectra of T Tauri stars in the Taurus star-forming region obtained with the Spitzer Infrared Spectrograph (IRS). For the first time, the 5–36 μm spectra of a large sample of T Tauri stars belonging to the same star-forming region is studied, revealing details of the midinfrared excess due to dust in circumstellar disks. We analyze common features and differences in the ...
متن کاملDisk Evolution in the Three Nearby Star-forming Regions of Taurus, Chamaeleon, and Ophiuchus
We analyze samples of Spitzer Infrared Spectrograph (IRS) spectra of T Tauri stars in the Ophiuchus, Taurus, and Chamaeleon I star-forming regions, whose median ages lie in the < 1 to 2 Myr range. The median mid-infrared spectra of objects in these three regions are similar in shape, suggesting, on average, similar disk structures. When normalized to the same stellar luminosity, the medians fol...

We have conducted an N-band survey of 14 young stars in the 30 Myr old Tucana-Horologium association to search for evidence of warm, circumstellar dust disks. Using theMIRAC-BLINC camera on theMagellan I (Baade) 6.5 m telescope, we find that none of the stars have a statistically significant N-band excess compared to the predicted stellar photospheric flux. Using three different sets of assumpt...

We construct a protostellar disk model that takes into account the combined effect of viscous evolution, photoevaporation and the differential radial motion of dust grains and gas. For T Tauri disks, the lifetimes of dust disks that are mainly composed of millimeter sized grains are always shorter than the gas disks’ lifetimes, and become similar only when the grains are fluffy (density . 0.1 g...
